I dare you to step into this abandoned water park in Vietnam !

Vietnam, the land of the beautiful pagodas, unique culture and natural beauty has one failed venture which attracted more attention after it was left to rot.

It’s the abandoned water park named Ho Thuy Tien located in the Thừa Thiên-Huế province, less than 20 kilometers from the town Hue.

The estimated cost of the park was 3 million USD funded by Company Hue Tourism, a bad business move of opening the gates of an unfinished park to the public led to the closure of the park.

An incomplete dream today is home to overgrown plants and crocodiles. But, in an odd turn of events, ever since its closure, the park has provided Hue’s tourism industry with an off-the-books boon they never saw coming.

Initially, everyone was magnetically drawn to the park’s giant, three-story-tall dragon aquarium rising from the lake at the center of the park. It was the park’s featured attraction. It is a hollow structure with the ceiling made to look like a rib cage and the visitors can walk through this rib cage from a set of stairs.

The top story ends up in the mouth of the dragon providing a view of the lake. An overview from the jaws of the beast. The bottom of the dragon which was meant to be a beautiful, colourful aquarium lays lifeless today with only hints of tanks filled with some water and shattered tiles.

COOL TIP: You can enter the park from the back gate which you can easily locate by way of GPS or Google Maps. This will save you the money you’ll need to pay the guards as a bribe.

Another section of the water park resort is a tad bit far from the dragon statue. This shall also amount to a mini adventure, walking through the lush greens and finding yourself at one end of a small wooden bridge.

The other part is a pool with a small water slide probably made for the children. Walking a little straight ahead is a pool which is the drop of the water slide now filled with dirty water and fishes. The huge blue and white water slide is another major attraction.

Another hike through the greens takes us to a huge lake followed by an unfinished amphitheater. The park used to be home to a family of wild crocodiles, who have recently been transferred to a zoo in Vietnam. Feeding these crocodiles was another major attraction of the park until they were transferred.

CAUTION: One thing to keep in mind is that while clicking pictures, one must be careful of broken glasses and worn out materials. In case of an injury, providing timely aid can be an issue as the city is far from the park.

 Also , this water park is not accessible by road . So reaching there can be an adventure in itself!
